CityFind Version 3.5 offers amazing new Search Features

Version 3.5 is here

We are thrilled to announce the release of version 3.5 of CityFind Site Search! The latest version is packed with tons of new search features and updates to give you more control over your search results. Our engineering team has worked hard over the past 3 months working hard bringing the latest update to life. We are extremely grateful to have so many wonderful clients that have contributed to this update with suggestions for improvements and new search features.

Here are some of the most exciting features we have to offer

Free Community Edition!

That’s right, CityFind is now free for websites with up to 500 HTML pages. Sign up now to start using the most powerful Google Site Search Alternative on your website today, for free.

Pricing Changes

Our service plans are updated to include even more than ever before. We improved the Starter plan dramatically to include a whopping 50,000 HTML pages and up to 500 PDF documents, and up to 500 domains per account. The Expanding plan now offers up to 250,000 HTML documents including up to 5,000 PDF documents on up to 500 individual domains.

Custom Synonym Lists

You can now add custom synonyms to your domains. What does this mean? Let’s say you are selling couches, but your customers are searching for “Sofas” instead. You can now set a custom synonym for a page that contains the word “Couch” with a list of synonyms that your users might be looking for, such as “Sofas”, “Love Seats”, “Furniture”, and more.

Custom Stop Word Lists

Stop Words are low-value words that you don’t want to influence your search results. There is a default list of stop words such as “the” or “and” that is built into CityFind, however adding your own custom stop words can dramatically improve the quality of your search results. An example of a good stopword would be the name of your company, or the name of your municipality if you are using CityFind on a municipal website. These words might appear on many pages within your site, and add no value to search results.

Custom Sitemap Tags

You can now specify sitemap tags for your search engine within the dashboard. Currently this includes page titles and page hits. These are both very useful for sites which have PDF’s (which don’t often have titles). Sitemap tags are also useful if you wish to implement popularity weighting for without tracking plugin.

Brand new API Tools and Search Features

We are excited to launch a large number of new API features that will let you improve the quality of your index. New API features are provided for adding documents to the index (by URL), removing documents by URL, queuing individual documents for crawl, or queuing the entire site for a full re-crawl. You can also now use the API to queue a re-index of the site, which will take into account any recent weight changes or customization right away.

New Dashboard Features

Our UX team is constantly working hard to bring new features and tools to the dashboard to help you get the most value out of your search engine. New control sliders, dashboard search features, and buttons have been added to the kit to improve your experience using CityFind Site Search.

Improved Analytics & User Behavior Analysis

Behind the scenes, our engineers are working hard to make CityFind the absolute BEST google site search alternative (and the best site search engine!) in the world. The team has brought many new behind the scenes changes to the analytics toolbox that will help CityFind learn from users behaviors to improve search results over time.
